The Prince Who Loved Me by Karen Hawkins

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ I could not put this book down! It was wonderful! The story is basically a "Cinderella" plot with a few changes..  No evil step sisters, she isn't treated poorly etc.

What I loved:
• Alexsey's laid back attitude as a prince, which I much preferred than a rigid arrogance. Execpt of course in his pursuit of Bronwyn.
• Bronwyn's love for books, and her sassy wit.
• The chemistry and banter between the Hero and Heroine.
• Mairi (one of Bronwyn's sisters) I loved her spunkyness. Truly hope she gets a story!
• Pretty much everything else! The writing was fantastic, I laughed and could often be found trying to sneak moments to read because I was enjoying it so much!

I did have a few moments where I wondered if there was a previous book in this series... which there is!  It is called How to Pursue a Princess - The second book in the Duchess Diaries series.  If you haven't read that yet, don't worry, this book can be read as a stand alone but the first book is also fantastic! So personally, I would read that one before.

Here's the Blurb:

A handsome, rakish prince who doesn't believe in true love meets a stubborn lass who will settle for nothing less...

In a lighthearted retelling of a classic fairy tale, bestselling author Karen Hawkins gives Cinderella a Scottish twist!

Prince Alexsey Romanovin enjoys his carefree life, flirting—and more—with every lovely lady who crosses his path. But when the interfering Grand Duchess Natasha decides it's time for her grandson to wed, Alexsey finds himself in Scotland, determined to foil her plans. Brainy, bookish, and bespectacled, Bronwyn Murdoch seems the perfect answer—she isn't at all to the duchess' taste.

Living at the beck and call of her ambitious stepmother and social butterfly stepsisters, Bronwyn has little time for a handsome flirt—no matter how intoxicating his kisses are. After all, no spoiled, arrogant prince would be seriously interested in a firm-minded female like herself. So . . . wouldn't it be fun to turn his "game" upside down and prove that an ordinary woman can bring a prince to his knees?

Rising Storm - Episode 6: Take the Storm by Rebecca Zanetti

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ 1/2 This was a great addition to the series. This book is mainly about Marisol and Patrick... I love these two!

What I loved:
• The author's writing style is smooth and sleek which made for easy reading.
• The chemistry between Marisol and Patrick was wonderful.
• The drama, and the fact that I am invested enough to want to talk some sense into a few characters.
• Luis and Mallory..  those two are too cute with their "highschool" feelings and situations.

What I likes less:
•The author seemed to sum up what had happened in the previous stories often, which I felt was unnecessary due to the fact that these are meant to be read one right after another.. not as stand alones.

All in all this is a series I continue to recommend and I can't wait for the next book!

Here's the blurb:

Marisol Moreno has spent her youth taking care of her younger siblings. Now, with her sister, Ginny, in crisis, and her brother in the throes of his first real relationship, she doesn’t have time for anything else. Especially not the overtures of the incredibly compelling Patrick Murphy.

Rising Storm - Episode 5: Calm Before The Storm by Larissa Ione

♥ ♥ ♥ 1/2  This book focuses mainly on Brittany and Marcus however we get glimpses and snippets of the other characters we've  come to love.

What I loved:
• The flirting and chemistry between Brittany and Marcus.
•The "old friend" bond between Marcus and Logan, their scenes were great!
•The evil that is Senator Rush and his Mother... wonderfully written.

What I liked less:
• Marcus is undecided about his immediate future at this point in the story, which is fine.. but sometimes came across more wishy-washy than I would expect from his character.
• Simple misunderstandings... I really dislike when these go on for far too long.... now this one could play out totally differently in the next book, than I am picturing. But I have a strong feeling it won't and sadly because of that, has left a sour taste in my mouth at the end of this episode and has lost .5 of a star from me.

I had not read this author before and while her writing was good it did take me some time to adjust to it... and honestly I can't put my finger on why... that said, I am glad I have book 6 on my kindle ready to go.. I cant wait to see what's going to happen!

Here's the blurb:

Marcus Alvarez fled Storm when his father’s drinking drove him over the edge. With his mother and sisters in crisis, Marcus is forced to return to the town he thought he’d left behind. But it is his attraction to a very grown up Brittany Rush that just might be enough to guarantee that he stays.

Rising Storm - Episode 4: Dance in the Wind by Jennifer Probst

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ 1/2  This series has a wonderful cast of characters which made for another great installment in the Rising Storm saga.  People are returning home, love is being found and persued, and lies are being burried deep, just waiting to explode. Somehow I don't see myself being satisfied with just 8 books! Hopefully these authors decide to do this again!  I have not read Jennifer Probst's writing before but I found it easy to read and become engaged in the story.

Available Now!! All I need Is You by Wendy S. Marcus

As a dancer who creates mesmerizing visions onstage, Neve James is looking for the same kind of stability in her love life. Her pen pal, Rory McRoy, is on leave from deployment in Afghanistan, so she heads to Boston to surprise him. After corresponding for months as part of a “Support Our Troops” initiative—and exchanging dozens of “Read When You’re Alone” letters—Neve knows what Rory likes, and she intends to fulfill his every fantasy. But all they get are a few blissful moments together before they’re interrupted by a woman claiming to be Rory’s fiancée.

Rory has fallen hard for Neve’s letters. When he finally meets her in person, he has to have her, right then and there—until Neve takes off in a fit of anger. Forced to return to Afghanistan before he can fix things between them, Rory waits four agonizing months to prove that he’s not the man Neve thinks he is. But by the time he arrives in New York, she’s already made up her mind. Luckily, Rory never backs down from a challenge, and he’s prepared to put everything on the line for love.

“Don’t make that face around me. People will think I died,” Neve said, her beautiful green eyes opened slightly, her voice scratchy, little more than a whisper. She winced when she swallowed. “Water.”
He lifted the cup from her bedside table, elevated the head of her hospital bed, and guided the straw to her mouth. So many of his friends had died, but not Neve, thank God. “Nate ran out for coffee.”
“What day is it?” she asked, her voice a little stronger.
She went to move her arm with the IV in it and winced. Then she lifted her other hand and rubbed her face. “I’ve been out of it for two whole days.”
Rory nodded. “Pretty much.”
As if just realizing something, she went still, then looked up at him with a questioning look: “Why are you still here?”
Because Neve had become such an integral part of his life, during such a difficult time in his life, and he didn’t want to lose her over some misunderstanding. She’d become his best female friend. He appreciated her perspective on things, valued her opinion, and enjoyed their interactions, especially the very intimate sharing of naughty letters and sexual likes and dislikes. He could talk to her about anything. And as much as he didn’t want to lose a friendship that had become very special to him, he also wanted more of what had happened between them in the storeroom of his parents’ pub. And he couldn’t stop thinking about it, couldn’t stop thinking about her.
They needed time to talk so they could move past Mary, who was not now and had never been his fiancée, so they could figure out what happened next, where they fit into each other’s lives now that he’d returned home for good. And they couldn’t very well work all that out until she woke up.
But he didn’t tell her any of those things. Instead he decided he’d much rather get a rise out of her, spark some life back into her, so he leaned in close, stared directly into her sleepy eyes, and whispered back, “You promised next time I could have you naked in a bed and take all the time I want.” He leaned in closer, almost to her ear, hating the stink of bleached hospital sheets and sickness, wishing she smelled of the enticing perfume she’d used to scent her erotically charged letters. “And here you are, in a bed, wearing nothing but a flimsy gown, which is close enough to naked for me. Now that you’re up, whaddya say we get to it?”
“Really, Rory.” She let out an annoyed huff. “Propositioning a woman in the hospital, hoping she’s so delirious with fever she’ll agree to have sex with you, is the sign of a truly pathetic, desperate man.”
Not just any woman. He turned his head so she wouldn’t see his smile, so happy to have her back. “I can wait until your fever comes down.” He pulled over the chair he’d been sitting in, lowered himself into it, and put his feet up on the foot of her bed. “It’s the gentlemanly thing to do. Besides, I’m in no rush.”

Rising Storm - Episode 3: Crosswinds by Elisabeth Naughton

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ For me this is the book in the series that really hooked me, I couldn't put it down! There was all the good flirty feelings and chemistry that I love in romances and have come to expect from Elisabeth Naughton. It made me remember what it was like to be a teenager/young adult! So many strong feelings..  I felt them all alongside the characters and I just cant wait to see what happens in the fourth book.
