Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase

★★★ 3.5 Stars

This book was good, but didn't make me long to come back and read. The characters were interesting and I liked them together. Some of the choices the author made, had me thinking "why would she do this?" but in the end I guess it kinda make sense... I just felt it made parts of the story awkward for me. I found both Jessica and Dain to be strong and independent, which was good. On the flip side of that though, I didn't feel the chemistry between them that I look for in my books.  This was the first time I have read this author. I may give her another chance as I have heard wonderful things about her.

Here's the blurb:

Tough-minded Jessica Trent's sole intention is to free her nitwit brother from the destructive influence of Sebastian Ballister, the notorious Marquess of Dain. She never expects to desire the arrogant, amoral cad. And when Dain's reciprocal passion places them in a scandalously compromising, and public, position, Jessica is left with no choice but to seek satisfaction ...

Damn the minx for tempting him, kissing him ... and then forcing him to salvage her reputation! Lord Dain can't wait to put the infuriating bluestocking in her place --- and in some amorous position, And if that means marriage, so be it! --- though Sebastian is less than certain he can continue to remain aloof ... and steel his heart to the sensuous, headstrong lady's considerable charms

Swept Through Time - 7 Bestselling Time Travel Treasures!

This looks like a great set of books! I quite enjoy time travel stories, the hero/heroine having to deal with things they are just not accustomed to or equipped for. It can have some wonderfully amusing and/or tense moments.  I read through the blurbs of these books.. and there are definitely some keywords that got me to pre-order this box set: Soulmates, highlanders and the Fae. A bounty hunting heroine, and a medieval prince, not to mention doing research that gets you sent back to those events, and a medieval ring that transports you through time!  Throw in some romance and for me.. it doesn't get much better!

Fire Rising by Donna Grant

★★★★  4.5 Stars

This is the second full length book in the Dark Kings series, and (as I said before..) while I know that I should really go back and read the Warrior and Dark Sword books before I continue the series...  after reading the novellas and the first story.. I just love these Dragon Kings way too much!!! This book was really good. I deducted .5 of a star because I had wished more for Sammi. Her character wasn't as interesting as I was expecting her to be. She seemed too normal, nothing really special.. other than she's not attracted to the Dark Fae.. but.. why?? that made me wish there was going to be a reason.. maybe it will get explained in the next few books.  Tristan was good.. and I felt my lack of reading the previous warrior books.. a lot more in this book,  due to the fact that Tristan was one...  that said it was still a fun read and I am really looking forward to the next book.. don't want to spoil anything.. but I can't believe they just left her there!! Oh and I LOVE Balladyn! I know he's a Dark.. but I just really want him to have a story and perhaps get turned back to Light???  He's just got loads of potential I think!

Here's the blurb:

Tristan, the newest Dragon King, is having a tough time fitting in. Despite his ability to transform into a proud, strong dragon at will, no one knows where he came from or how he became a Dragon King, including himself. When trouble arises in the form of the mob, Tristan is going to have to put aside his questions and band with the other Dragon Kings to protect Dreagan. As if things weren’t complicated enough, he is about to find something worth fighting for more important than the Dragon Kings…

Sammie Miller, pub owner in Oban, has been scorned by her business partner—and former lover. Used as a front for money laundering with the mob, Sammie is in great danger once she realizes what has happened. Barely escaping, she plans to rest at Dreagan for only a day before going back on the run. When Tristan swears to protect her, Sammie thinks his efforts will be in vain—the mob is too powerful, and it will take more than the average man’s devotion to keep her safe. But the closer she gets to Tristan, and the more he learns his secrets, Sammie can’t deny that having a Dragon King who worships you, body and soul, isn’t such a bad thing…

The Secrets of Sir Richard Kenworthy by Julia Quinn

★★★★★ I forgot how funny Julia Quinn is! I laughed out loud often!  This book was super fun to read. I love the Smythe- Smith girls, but Iris with her sarcasm and bold statements has always been my favourite! Richard was an interesting character..and I loved trying to figure out his secret. This is the fourth book in the Smythe-Smith Quartet, and I am kinda sad it's over. Hopefully, we'll catch glimpses of them in other stories! I really hope Frances is ok...  perhaps she'll get her own story one day?

Here's The Blurb:

Sir Richard Kenworthy has less than a month to find a bride. He knows he can't be too picky, but when he sees Iris Smythe-Smith hiding behind her cello at her family's infamous musicale, he thinks he might have struck gold. She's the type of girl you don't notice until the second—or third—look, but there's something about her, something simmering under the surface, and he knows she's the one.

Iris Smythe–Smith is used to being underestimated. With her pale hair and quiet, sly wit she tends to blend into the background, and she likes it that way. So when Richard Kenworthy demands an introduction, she is suspicious. He flirts, he charms, he gives every impression of a man falling in love, but she can't quite believe it's all true. When his proposal of marriage turns into a compromising position that forces the issue, she can't help thinking that he's hiding something . . . even as her heart tells her to say yes.
